Tire Recycling Collection and Fee

Businesses that sell tires must collect a fee to pay for tire recycling. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) collects these fees. The fee is $2.50 per new tire sold.

The following tire types are not subject to waste tire management and recycling fee:

  • Motorcycles, mopeds, or motor scooters
  • ATVs
  • Limited use vehicles
  • Electrical devices used by a person with disabilities
  • Vehicles that run on rails or tracks.
