Administration officials will run the city this week from Staten Island to focus on the borough's people and their concerns

NEW YORK – Mayor Bill de Blasio and Staten Island Borough President James Oddo will kick off “City Hall in Your Borough” in Staten Island today, Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27. This week will be the initiative's first stop of the year in the five boroughs.

Mayor de Blasio, deputy mayors, and senior Administration officials will run the city from Staten Island Borough Hall to get a closer feel for the needs of Staten Islanders and focus on the borough's people and their concerns. Events this week will include a Resource Fair on Tuesday and a mayoral Community Town Hall on Wednesday, as well as various city announcements throughout the borough, including with Borough President James Oddo and local elected leaders.

"We’re thrilled to bring back City Hall in Your Borough to Staten Island to engage on the needs and challenges unique to its residents. It's our job to listen to New Yorkers, and there's no better way to do that than visiting them in their neighborhoods," said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “As we move City Hall from borough to borough this year, we look forward to building a closer and productive relationship between New Yorkers and their city government.”

“This week, my staff and I plan to maximize the time we have with the Mayor and his team,” said Borough President James Oddo. “This will be the most pivotal five days of the year for our Borough Hall team, and we will do everything we can to advocate for the issues that Staten Islanders care about. I look forward to working closely with the Mayor and his Administration during this weeklong visit to garner tangible improvements that help as many Staten Islanders in as many ways as possible.”

Tomorrow, Mayor Bill de Blasio and Staten Island Borough President James Oddo will host a City Resource Fair from 9 am to 1 pm at the Carter Center, 230 Broad Street, as part of City Hall in Your Borough week. Top representatives from City Hall, the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Affairs, the Department of Transportation, Department of Finance, NYPD, Economic Development Corporation, Department of Education, Department of Health, Small Business Services, Department of Parks and Recreation, among others, will be available to answer Staten Island residents’ questions. Resource Fair Entrance for the public is on Broad Street near Gordon.

On Wednesday, at 6:30 pm, Mayor de Blasio and Council Member Debi Rose will hold a Community Town Hall meeting at the Curtis High School at 105 Hamilton Avenue to hear and discuss community member’s concerns.

City Hall in Your Borough in Staten Island is the first of a series of weeks where the Administration is going to each of the five boroughs to bring government to the people, hear their concerns and learn better how it can serve them. It’s also an opportunity for community leaders and residents to discuss with city officials the issues affecting their communities and the work the Administration is doing in each borough.
