Statement from Mayor Bill de Blasio on New York Minimum Wage

September 10, 2015

“Nothing would do more to lift New Yorkers out of poverty and move our economy forward than raising the wage. That message has been clear here and around the country as this national movement grows; some of our largest cities have taken action, and people from all walks of life are standing together for this vital goal. We welcome the Governor’s support for a $15 minimum wage – and New York City stands ready to help make it a reality. We have been doing all we can here in the city: affordable housing, Pre-K for All, increasing and expanding the living wage, and much more. But combating income inequality requires bold action on all levels of government. I urge Albany to act quickly.”
