According to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), New York is the fourth highest state for reported cases of sexual exploitation and labor trafficking.
During Calendar Year 2014, through the Safe Harbour Program, ACS and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development identified 1,405 New York City youth as sexually exploited or at-risk for exploitation. . During Calendar Year 2015, ACS and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development identified 2,087 New York City youth as sexually exploited or at-risk for exploitation. (These numbers are not representative of all of NYC, just of the providers that received Safe Harbour grant funding.)
As required by NYC Local Law 23 of 2012, ACS and DYCD are required to submit annual reports documenting the number of commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC) and the services available.
