Foster Care Month Kicks Off With Heart Gallery NYC Photo Exhibit
To launch activities for National Foster Care Month this May, Commissioner Ronald E. Richter joined Heart Gallery NYC for a press conference on May 7 at the Children’s Museum in Manhattan. The conference was held to announce the opening exhibit of a photo gallery featuring beautiful photographs of 70 NYC children in foster care in need of adoptive families.
Commissioner Richter thanked the staff of the Heart Gallery NYC, Catholic Guardian Society and Home Bureau, and Children’s Museum of the Arts for making the exhibit possible. He noted that since 2006, the ACS has collaborated with Heart Gallery NYC to create powerful and compelling photo exhibits featuring portraits of our children in foster care. As a result, the exhibits have resulted in young people finding permanent, loving families.
The Heart Gallery images, taken by world renowned photographers who donate their talents, will serve to raise awareness of, and recruit prospective families for children in NYC foster care. The photo exhibit will be at the Children’s Museum throughout May and will later travel to all boroughs.
