AmeriCorps VISTA Opportunities at ACS

Make a difference in the lives of New York City families and children while gaining experience in NYC government as an AmeriCorps NYC VISTA.

AmeriCorps NYC VISTA members will serve for 12 months at ACS and work to create as well as improve upon management and data tracking and training systems, develop resources, and organize outreach.

ACS is seeking three VISTA members to support the following ACS Departments:

Nicholas Scopetta Children's Center

  • Responsibilities: To assist with creating evaluation and measuring tools to guide strategic thinking related to capturing and addressing critical incidents that will assist in addressing the needs of the children who suffer from poverty and financial instability through our sex-trafficking prevention program. The VISTA member will also be heavily involved in maintaining and improving clinical referrals and critical incidents and conduct program evaluations.

Office of Immigrant Services and Language Affairs

  • Responsibilities: The Immigration and Language Access VISTA Member will establish language access best practices at the new programs to build their capacity and cultural sensitivity for working with immigrant and limited-English proficient clients. In addition, the VISTA Member will work with ACS’s foster care agencies to develop programming and best practices for working with bilingual immigrant families.

Division of Prevention Services

  • Responsibilities: The VISTA Member will provide capacity building by researching new trends to inform policies, creating an excel database, and working on special projects in the Investigative Clearances Unit. Monitor and track cases involving Investigative Clearance requests. Provide support to prevention agencies in developing workforce capacity.

Strategic Initiative

  • Responsibilities: The VISTA Member will help ensure families and children have a voice by supporting the execution of the 2020/2021 Family Experience: ACS Prevention Services Survey client satisfaction survey. The VISTA Member will provide critical support in providing outreach and engagement with key child welfare stakeholders to inform them about the survey, its importance, and strategies for administering.
