In light of this weekend's brutal and deeply disturbing assault of a NYC Department of Correction Officer, the Board of Correction is cancelling its February 13, 2018 meeting.  We do not have any votes or items on the agenda this month that require more immediate attention than this attack. The BOC will instead use this time to meet with the Department of Correction, COBA and other labor groups, officers, and other stakeholders to formulate a plan to address the serious safety and violence issues at Rikers that require immediate attention.  This is an extremely difficult time for officers and other staff working in our City's jails and for the Department of Correction.  Our thoughts are with the hospitalized officer and his family and colleagues.  

The Board anticipates it will reschedule this meeting for April 10, 2018.
