Applicants seeking to make a Plan Examination appointment for standard plan review BIS job filings can schedule an appointment online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week up to one month in advance using the Appointments System.
To schedule a specialized plan examination appointment including audits, determinations, emergencies, and project advocate appointments submit a PER11 Manual Appointment and Drop Off Request Form or contact the appropriate borough office.
The Department of Buildings developed the Appointments system to make it easier to do business with us, by validating job information before scheduling a plan examination appointment.
For an overview of the Appointments process see the Appointments User Guide.
For step-by-step instructions on using the Appointments system, see the Appointments System User Manual.
Applicants can use the Appointments system by entering their DOB ID Number, PIN, BIS Job number and BIS Document number. The Licensing Unit provides DOB ID Numbers and PINs to all eligible professionals and class 2 filing representatives as part of the initial DOB registration process.
If you have never received a PIN and you are an eligible professional or a class 2 filing representative, visit the Licensing Unit at 280 Broadway, 1st Floor to apply. If you forgot or need to change your PIN, submit a request using the DOB Online Help Form.
Applicants must confirm or cancel plan examination appointments at least 24 hours before their scheduled appointment. Applicants must cancel scheduled appointments before picking a date to reschedule.
To cancel a standard appointment made online, locate the appointment in the Appointments system and click on the Cancel button.
To cancel a specialized examination appointment, submit a cancellation request on the DOB Online Help Form.
