Local Law 110 of 2019 Tenant Information

Building owners must post a copy of a DOB/OATH summons in the lobby of the building that was issued a violating condition. Owners must distribute a copy of a DOB/OATH Summons to the tenant(s) of the occupied dwelling unit and any adjacent occupied dwelling units where the violating condition occurred. Print the flyer.

Illegal Home Use

Illegally altered buildings and apartments violate the City's construction codes and can pose serious risks to tenants, neighbors, and first responders in the event of a fire or other emergency. Unauthorized work is subject to violations and Stop Work Orders from the Department.

Living Safely Campaign

The Living Safely multi-lingual campaign was created to alert tenants and homeowners to the dangers of illegal apartments and substandard conditions.
 
Each heating season a team of Department Inspectors and members from our Community Affairs Unit distribute flyers to remind residents about simple strategies to live safely.
