Registration for Rapid Repairs
is closed. Rapid Repairs was a first-of-its-kind pilot program to provide free, government assistance to thousands of homeowners left without heat, power, and hot water after Hurricane Sandy. These emergency repairs allowed residents to stay in their homes so they could complete more permanent repairs and finishes.
After the Rapid Repairs work is completed, owners must hire the appropriate licensed contractor to obtain the proper permits and complete any remaining work. This may require electrical, plumbing or general construction to bring the home into compliance with the NYC Construction Codes and any other applicable laws.
Once the licensed contractors have completed work, they must file any required certifications with the Department of Buildings or schedule any required inspections for sign-off by a Department Inspector.
All DOB application and permit fees have been waived for Hurricane Sandy-related repairs.
