Registrants Project Checklists: Emergency Backup Power Systems

Project Checklists contain project-specific details as they apply to the scope of work of the project to provide compliance with the NYC Construction Codes and other regulations. This section contains a list of tasks to assist with compliance.

Checklists include:


Pre-Permit Checklist

  • Construction Drawings.  Make sure the Department-approved drawings clearly convey the project scope of work and that the drawings align correctly with the contracted work.
  • Scope Modification.  Verify if changes need an amendment
  • Insurance Requirements.  Comply with the insurance requirements for General Liability insurance, Workers Compensation and Disability insurance.  When required, update the General Liability insurance.
  • Special and Progress Inspections.  Confirm the Owner has hired the Special and/or Progress Inspection Agency and that the required inspection information has been submitted, which is required to obtain a work permit.

On-going Project Work Checklist

  • Construction Drawings.  Work defined in the Construction Documents must conform to the scope of work approved in the permit application documents.  Minor variations, however, are allowed – see Minor Variations Memorandum.  Please note certain changes may require an amendment.
  • Scope Modification.  Verify if changes need an amendment
  • Site Safety.  To minimize the risk of accidents and fire during construction, the LME/Contractor must maintain his/her work site in a safe condition.
  • Special and Progress Inspections.  Coordinate the work schedule with the SIA to assure inspections are completed as required for each stage of the work.
  • Department Inspections.  Request or self-certify the required inspections, by the completion of each stage of construction and obtain DOB sign-off for the completed work.
  • Self-Certification.  If self-certifying the required inspections, be sure to submit a Notice of Intent to Self-certify.  Self-certification inspection may be audited and inspected.

Project Completion Close-out Checklist

  • Department Inspections.  Request or self-certify the inspections required for each stage of construction, and obtain a sign-off for the completed work.
  • Self-Certification.  If self-certifying the required inspections, be sure to submit a Notice of Intent to Self-certify, which may be audited.
  • As-Built Submission.  Coordinate installation with RDP for submission (RDP to submit PAA as required).
  • Final Sign-off.  Make sure to complete all Department inspections and obtain a final sign-off of the completed work.
