Emergency Response Team (ERT)
The Emergency Response Team (ERT) provides Citywide rapid response in all emergencies requiring the Department of Buildings. ERT works to ensure the NYC Building Codes, rules, and regulations are being followed to keep NYC safe and growing.
ERT is the primary source of incident command for DOB; is requested to perform special enforcement sweeps; and handles all after hour inquiries/complaints – this includes special requests for weekend inspections and after-hours variance complaints. The Team is responsible for the Citywide A-complaint
response during normal business hours, non-business hours, and all Holidays. ERT is a 24/7 365 day operation with both daytime and nighttime Inspectors, with three onsite Watch Command Representatives at NYC Emergency Management.
