Shelter Exit Transition (SET)

Shelter Exit Transition (SET)

The Shelter Exit Transition Program, or SET, is an HRA initiative to provide employment assistance to homeless shelter residents to help them live independently. Participating clients are offered a workshop for resume writing and interview skills. Employers who participate in the program are reimbursed 80-100% of the employee’s wages for up to 20 weeks. Participating employers who hire our clients are asked to allow the necessary time off for them to find housing, and are expected to retain employees beyond the subsidy period so long as the employee’s punctuality and job performance are satisfactory. The program has successfully employed hundreds of participants and enabled many of them to obtain permanent housing.
