Resetting Your Password

These instructions are applicable ONLY if you have created an NYC.ID previously. If you have not, please click on the link entitled “Instructions for Logging into CapGrants.” Please note that if you used CapGrants last year as part of the FY 2019 process, your username (e‐mail address) and password should still be active. These instructions will guide you through the process of resetting your password if you have forgotten it.

Login Screen

When you click on the link to the CapGrants Portal, you will be prompted with a login screen (Exhibit 1 below). Click on the area identified below if you have forgotten your password.

Reset Method: Two Options

You will be directed to a page (Exhibit 2 below) that will give you two options to reset your password: (1) via a password reset e‐mail, or (2) via your security questions.

Option 1: Password Reset Via E‐mail

If you have forgotten the responses to your security questions, enter your e‐mail address and click on the first option (see Exhibit 2 above). An e‐mail will be sent to that e‐mail address to reset your password with a link. Clink on that link (or copy and paste that link into your Internet browser) and you will be directed to the following page below (Exhibit 3). Please enter the new password twice and hit “Reset.”

Please note that your password must be eight characters or greater and must contain at least three of the following four characters: an upper case letter, a lower case letter, a number, and a symbol (&, *, #,!,@,%).

You will then be prompted to enter in your username (e‐mail) and your new password (see Exhibit 4 below).

DO NOT ENTER INFORMATION ON THIS SCREEN.

Instead, please exit the window and return to the NYC.ID login screen to sign in.

If, by mistake, you enter information in the above screen (see Exhibit 4), you will then be given the option to reset your e‐mail address.

PLEASE DO NOT RESET YOUR E‐MAIL ADDRESS. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR PROJECT INFORMATION IN CAPGRANTS AND RECEIVE UPDATES.

Please exit this window and return to the NYC.ID login screen to sign in.

Option 2: Password Reset Via Security Questions

If you remember the responses to your security questions, enter your e‐mail address and click on the second option – “use my security questions.” (See Exhibit 2 above.) You will then be asked to enter the responses to two of the security questions that you have previously chosen (see sample security questions in Exhibit 5 below). Then click on “Next.”

You will then be taken to the screen below (Exhibit 6) where you will enter in a new password twice and then click on “Reset.”

Please note that your password must be eight characters or greater and must contain at least three of the following four characters: an upper case letter, a lower case letter, a number, and a symbol (&, *, #,!,@,%).

Upon clicking “Reset” (see Exhibit 6 above), you will see the following confirmation that your password has changed (see Exhibit 7 below). You may now enter CapGrants using your new password by exiting this window and return to the NYC.ID login screen to sign in.
