OneNYC 2050, New York City’s Green New Deal, is a vision for a better world that our kids will inherit. One where we are no longer addicted to fossil fuels – where we have transitioned in a fair way to a green economy that works for everyone – and where our democracy includes us all. And thankfully, here in New York City, it’s not just a vision – the work of a Green New Deal is already happening. That’s why we are taking on the fossil fuel industry, getting our emissions to net zero, building greater resiliency citywide, and creating an inclusive economy to make sure all New Yorkers have a fair opportunity to thrive. These may not be easy, but they are necessary if we are to secure a livable future for the next generation.
And in this unprecedented moment, as we work to recover from COVID-19, we know that we cannot lose sight of our looming climate crisis and the threats to public health and well-being that it will cause. That’s why New York City is prioritizing an accelerated economic recovery with job-creating investments in clean energy infrastructure – like solar, offshore wind, and hydropower – that promote environmental justice.
I am proud to be a part of preparing America’s largest city for the future and delivering on the commitments of New York City’s Green New Deal. Please join us as we work to build a strong and fair city.
