To help the City identify energy savings opportunities, DEM conducts regular energy audits and retro-commissioning studies for City buildings over 50,000 gross square feet. DEM partners with City agencies to implement retro-commissioning projects identified by these studies. Retro-commissioning projects are repair projects that ensure that buildings’ energy systems and equipment were installed as intended by design and are being properly operated and maintained.
By the end of FY19, DEM has completed 490 retro-commissioning projects, representing a total investment of $37.7 million.
DEM works with partner agency staff to conduct regular energy audits and retro-commissioning studies.
