Kew Gardens, NY 11415-1225

Date Built: 1990

The Queens Family Justice Center is located at the intersection of 82nd Avenue and 126th St. and is adjacent to Queens Criminal Court. The 16,000-square-foot modular building was built in 1990 as a one-story annex for the courthouse. Following a $5 million renovation, the building reopened in 2008 as the Queens Family Justice Center.

An initiative of the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence, the Family Justice Center offers legal assistance, counseling and support to victims of domestic violence and their children. Several City agencies and not-for-profit organizations share space in the Family Justice Center to provide comprehensive services to clients.

This was the second Family Justice Center to be sited; the first, located next to the Brooklyn Family Courthouse in downtown Brooklyn, opened in 2005.
