The Empire State Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development held its annual Long Island Regional MWBE Expo last month. The free event was part of a series of expos that will take place across New York State, which are designed to connect minority and woman-owned business enterprises (MWBE) to New York State agencies, authorities and technical assistance providers.

DDC's Office of Diversity and Industry Relations attended the event to meet with MWBE contractors and notify them of the opportunities available with the Department of Design and Construction. “We plan to continue our efforts of creating an equitable and competitive business environment that facilitates procurement opportunities for the city’s MWBE community,” said Dr. Feniosky Peña-Mora, Department of Design and Construction Commissioner.

The event featured workshops and panel discussions about MWBE certification, business development resources, and state-sponsored financial and technical assistance programs.
