New York Hall of Science & STEAM at NYSCI’s STEM NIGHT for Careers in Engineering

New York Hall of Science STEM Nights are free special events designed for high school and college students who are curious about potential careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM Night series is a program of NYSCI’s Alan J. Friedman Center for the Development of Young Scientists.

On February 9th 2018, The NYSCI STEM Night series featured several panelists ranging from Electrical Engineers to Product Designers representing a broad range of careers and industries. The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) Steam Initiatives participated in the seminar.  The STEM Night workshop hosted over 250 high school students and college undergrad students along with parents and school teachers.  Students were also encouraged to apply to the DDC High School Summer internship program. See link below to download PDF with more detailed information on the program.

Students and families watched DDC STEAM High School Internship videos and had their questions answered by STEAM Team members. Students from all five boroughs learned about pipeline opportunities in a broad spectrum of DDC departments, such as Public buildings and Infrastructure.

STEAM Coordinators Jillian Ramos and Sue Ellen Fonseca were on hand to greet students and parents and introduce them to DDC STEAM Programs.
