Senior Traffic Engineer Speaks to Construction Management & Civil Engineering Technology students at CUNY City Tech

On Thursday, March 28th Infrastructure Division’s Senior Traffic Engineer, Asheque Rahman, spoke to Construction Management & Civil Engineering Technology students at CUNY City Tech. The event was organized by City Tech’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter.  
 
Asheque has been a Practitioner Advisor (PA) for the City Tech ASCE Student Chapter since 2015. In this volunteer role Asheque works with students throughout the year to introduce them to the Civil Engineering profession and help them to develop professional autonomy. Additionally, Asheque works with the students to motivate, encourage, offer constructive criticism, question, and serve as an example of honest, ethical, high-caliber professional performance. As the Practitioner Advisor Asheque operates as the speaker for many presentations, workshops, and events for the ASCE Student Chapter.  
 
During the presentation Asheque spoke about Civil Engineering as a profession, his current role at DDC, and his overall experience working for the City since 2007. Asheque shared with the students information on DDC’s STEAM program, entry level job opportunities for recent graduates at DDC, as well as the benefits for working for the City. One focus of his presentation was to speak to prospective student leaders of the ASCE Student Chapter.
