Emergency Preparedness

People who are older, frail, have mobility issues, or are isolated, are especially vulnerable during emergency situations. The Department for the Aging (NYC Aging) works with New York City Emergency Management and other City agencies to help prepare older New Yorkers for these circumstances.

To better prepare older adults in the community, NYC Aging also:

  • Organizes interagency and service provider emergency preparedness activities.
  • Coordinates trainings, exercises and response for various types of emergencies.
  • Contributes to the City's planning for and response to emergency situations.
