DHS ADMINISTRATOR CARTER VISITS FREE SOCCER CLINIC FOR GIRLS IN HOMELESS SHELTERS AND FOSTER CARE
Led by Olympic gold medalist, more than 300 girls will receive free sneakers, train and play for a day
NEW YORK—On Wednesday, September 6, NYC Department of Homeless Services Administrator Joslyn Carter will visit a free soccer clinic sponsored by Evenfooting.org, a non-profit organization that works to empower underserved girls through athletics, where over 300 girls living in homeless shelters and foster care across New York City will participate in a day of athletic activity, team-building, training, and fun, led by Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Women’s National Team member Kristine Lilly. Participants will also receive free sneakers, soccer balls and shin guards in advance of the first day of school.
West Side Soccer League will provide free scholarships to join the league for any interested attendees as well as 8 youth certified soccer coaches to coordinate the day's skill-building and scrimmage activities.
