COVID-19: Data

Public Health Milestones

New York City is closely monitoring key public health indicators to best track the recent effects of COVID-19 in our communities. If an indicator reaches our identified early warning marker, or milestone, it shows the spread of COVID-19.

The following indicators — and whether any of them hit their milestones — will help policymakers decide if they need to change the City’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Percent of NYC residents tested who tested positive
  • New daily confirmed and probable cases
  • Hospital admissions for COVID-19-like illness
  • Rate of new COVID-19 hospitalizations per 100,000 residents, according to New York State

Due to delays in reporting, which can take as long as a week, recent data are incomplete.
