Reports shall be made by a veterinarian or by a person in charge of an animal hospital, rehabilitation facility, animal shelter, other institution providing animal care or treatment, zoological park, or other facility responsible for animal care and veterinary diagnostic laboratories.

Diseases affecting animals that are reportable include:

RED - Report immediately by phone upon suspicion
BLACK - Report by phone or fax within 24 hours upon laboratory diagnosis

  • Arboviral encephalitides
  • Brucellosis
  • Glanders
  • Influenza (novel with pandemic potential)
  • Leptospirosis
  • Monkeypox
  • Plague
  • Psittacosis
  • Q fever
  • Rabies
  • Rocky Mountain spotted fever
  • Salmonellosis
  • SARS
  • Tuberculosis
  • Tularemia
  • Any outbreak or suspect outbreak of any disease, condition or syndrome, in birds or animals, of known or unknown etiology, which may pose a danger to public health or any unusual manifestation of a disease in an animal
