Healthy Homes Community Workshops and Trainings

The goal of the workshops and trainings is to educate you on environmental home health hazards with topics including lead poisoning prevention, how to control pests safely, how to prevent and get rid of bedbugs, and more. The community workshops target parents, caregivers, community residents or anyone interested. The trainings are for professionals working with families. Organizations can also request onsite trainings and presentations (PDF) given by Healthy Homes Program educators and can order free educational materials (PDF). Get Ahead of Lead: Covers Local Law 1of 2004, lead in cultural products, performing renovation and repairs to prevent lead exposure.

Mold and Moisture:Covers facts about mold.

Stop Buggin’ Me: Covers how to control pests safely and how to prevent and get rid of bedbugs.

Watch Your Step: Covers falls prevention for older adults, keeping safe in cold/winter weather and where to find data about environmental health issues in NYC.

Safety First: Covers poison control information, medicine safety, preventing carbon monoxide poisoning and preventing child injuries in the home.

Understanding Indoor Air Quality (IAQ): Covers effects of steam radiator heat, gas from stoves, air fresheners/chemicals that impact air quality and more.
