2019 Novel Coronavirus

Recently, a novel (new) coronavirus was detected in thousands of people worldwide, primarily in China. There is evidence the infection can be spread person-to-person.

For more information about how NYC schools are responding to this outbreak, see the Health Department's Schools and Families Guidance for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (PDF).

There are medical and screening services available for NYC children while they are at school. Services to students include case management of chronic health problems, preventative health screenings, urgent care, medication administration, preventative counseling, health education, referral for care and assurance of ongoing effective treatment.
