Due to COVID-19, some in-person Department of Health services and scheduled activities at Health Action Center buildings have been suspended until further notice. To check if your service or activity is in-person or online see the calendar of events below.

The East Harlem Neighborhood Health Action Center hosts a variety of programs and activities focused on the health and wellness of East Harlem residents. The Action Center is part of the City's effort to promote health equity and reduce health disparities in the neighborhood.

Programs and Initiatives

Wellness Programs

  • Family Wellness Suite: A safe, welcoming and supportive space for women, caregivers and their families to connect to community resources. The program provides services before, during and after pregnancy. Services include:
    • Childbirth education
    • Newborn care classes
    • Parenting classes
    • Infant massage
    • Reproductive health workshops
    • Referrals
  • Baby Café: This support group for breastfeeding mothers meets on Thursdays, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Crib and Car Seat Distribution: Families can get a car seat or safe-sleep surface for their infant. To register, call 646-682-3323. Hours are Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
