Disclosure Rules

In order to balance the competing need for confidentiality of investigations with that of informing the public and government entities about DOI investigations, we established rules to govern the disclosure of DOI investigations. Read the memorandum.

All Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests to the Department of Investigation should be submitted via NYC OpenRecords (nyc.gov/openrecords). Select "Department of Investigation (DOI)" from the agency dropdown menu.
