Audio Description: Shonda Murphy, Director of Advance and Earn, discusses DYCD’s new training and employment program for youth between the ages of 16-24. We also discussed the Interagency Coordinating Council on Youth (ICC) public hearing on December 8, 2021.
The New York City Youth Board advises DYCD on the development of youth programs. The board is comprised of leaders from business, academia, government, foundations, and the non-profit sector.
DYCD administers federally funded youth workforce development programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Under WIOA, the NYC Workforce Development Board can convene a Youth Committee to support the provision of WIOA youth services. The Committee helps to strengthen the capacity of workforce development programs to provide high-quality services aligned with employer needs.
The Youth Board and Youth Committee meet jointly on a quarterly basis.
