The recent member survey was presented, followed by three breakout discussions on commitments that members may make, to support DYCD. The discussion groups were as follows, with a report back from each:
• Group #1: Directly engage with youth
• Group #2: Administrative support of DYCD programs and initiatives
• Group #3: Ongoing learning about DYCD and board engagement
The New York City Youth Board advises DYCD on the development of youth programs. The board is comprised of leaders from business, academia, government, foundations, and the non-profit sector.
DYCD administers federally funded youth workforce development programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Under WIOA, the NYC Workforce Development Board can convene a Youth Committee to support the provision of WIOA youth services. The Committee helps to strengthen the capacity of workforce development programs to provide high-quality services aligned with employer needs.
The Youth Board and Youth Committee meet jointly on a quarterly basis.
