About Ladders for Leaders

Ladders for Leaders is a nationally recognized program that offers outstanding high school and college students the opportunity to participate in paid professional summer internships with leading corporations, non-profit organizations, and government agencies in New York City. The program is an initiative of the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and supported by the NYC Center for Youth Employment and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 

Thank you for your interest in the NYC Ladders for Leaders Program. Unfortunately, the uncertainty over how COVID-19 will continue to affect social distancing guidelines, worksite availability, and provider and site staffing as we head into late spring and summer makes it difficult to ensure that Ladders can be operated safely and efficiently. Effective immediately the NYC Ladders for Leaders Program has been suspended for Summer 2020.

Why Ladders for Leaders?

By participating in structured projects and work-based opportunities, NYC youth are better prepared for careers of the future.

Who is Eligible?

  • Youth between the ages of 16—21 who are enrolled in high school or college
  • Minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00
  • Resident of NYC
  • Prior work experience, either paid or volunteer
  • Legally allowed to work in New York City
