NYC EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT’S LATEST ‘PREP TALK’ PODCAST HIGHLIGHTS PARTNERSHIP WITH

AMERICAN RED CROSS GREATER NEW YORK

September 17, 2018 — Emergency management is made possible through coordination. In the latest “Prep Talk” episode, the New York City Emergency Management Department sat down with Michael Devulpillieres, communications officer for the American Red Cross’ Greater New York chapter. Topics discussed include NYC Emergency Management’s longstanding partnership with American Red Cross Greater New York ― working together before, during, and after emergencies ― as well as the American Red Cross Greater New York’s range of programs and services, including preparedness initiatives like “Sound the Alarm” and The Pillowcase Project, emergency response, and volunteer opportunities.

Profile:

Michael Devulpillieres is the communications officer for the American Red Cross Greater New York. He manages media relations for the organization in New York City and provides strategic and content support for multiple Red Cross digital platforms. In his 11 years at the Red Cross, Michael has served as communications lead following dozens of large-scale disasters —including train derailments, building explosions, hurricanes, blizzards, floods and multiple-alarm fires — as well as countless smaller local emergencies. Along with his work in Greater New York, Michael provides communications support following large-scale disasters outside New York as a member of the Red Cross advanced public affairs team. He also supports the International Communications Department at the American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington D.C., specifically the Haiti Assistance Program.

Bushra Mollick, this episode’s special guest host, is a communications specialist at the New York City Emergency Management Department. Her responsibilities at the agency include updating various social media platforms, editing the agency’s websites, and updating/designing media on behalf of the agency such as graphics, toolkits, and public-facing guides. Mollick also photographs different events hosted at the agency, and produces the “A Day in the Life” YouTube series.
