NYC EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND ST. JOHN’S ATHLETICS TEAM UP TO HELP NEW YORKERS STAY INFORMED ABOUT EMERGENCIES

Red Storm highlights Notify NYC, the City’s free source of emergency information, during the 2019-20 season

February 14, 2020 — The next time you attend a Red Storm basketball game at St. John’s University, you can be “in the know” with Notify NYC, the City’s free source of official information about emergencies. That is because the New York City Emergency Management Department and St. John’s Athletics have teamed up to make sure you stay informed with key alerts and notifications. Through the Notify NYC campaign, Red Storm fans and members of the community can find out the best ways to stay up-to-date about potential road closures, weather updates, traffic delays, and more.

Notify NYC public service announcements (PSAs) and messages will be highly visible during all St. John’s men’s and women’s basketball home games at Madison Square Garden and Carnesecca Arena this season. The campaign will educate fans about Notify NYC on various digital platforms, public address announcements, videos, and in-person communication with representatives from the university’s athletic department.

“We are ecstatic to partner with St. John’s this season to share Notify NYC with Red Storm fans and community members. While they’re out enjoying the game, this excellent tool connects us with New Yorkers to give them the important information they need at the push of a button,” said NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Deanne Criswell.

“We are proud to partner with NYC Emergency Management to help bring attention to Notify NYC and keep our fans well informed,” said St. John’s Sports Properties General Manager Kevin Waters.

Notify NYC is the City’s free, official source for information about emergency events and important City services. New Yorkers can download the Notify NYC mobile application, which is available for free download from iTunes or Google Play.
