October 14, 2021 ― The only spam you should be ready and eager to open is on the supermarket shelf. Any other spam, especially on your digital devices, should always be deleted without opening it. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and on the latest episode of ¡Prepárate!, co-hosts Inés Bebea and Yokarina Duarte spoke with Adolfo Baca-Carrillo, a systems engineer manager for information technology with NYC Emergency Management. Baca-Carrillo shares why staying vigilant with online activities is imperative for all New Yorkers, whether working from home, in the office or with a hybrid work model. Baca-Carrillo also shares what the next challenges are in the field of information technology, the necessary steps to keep personal information safe online, and why free Wi-Fi access is not always a good idea. 

“We live in a world where everything is connected, and our personal and professional privacy is at risk. That’s why, we pay attention when we leave the house to make sure the doors are locked, and our car is securely locked, we also need to take care of the security of our data whether on the cloud and on our personal and work devices,” said Adolfo Baca-Carrillo, an information technology expert with more than 20 years in the field.

Adolfo Baca-Carrillo is a systems engineer manager with more than 20 years of experience in computer science. He has extensive experience designing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of information systems. Baca-Carrillo joined NYC Emergency Management as a systems engineer in 2016. He holds a master of science in management information systems from Kean University.
