Incident-Based Distribution

A Ready New York outreach presentation

New York City Emergency Management has been proactively engaging NYC residents since 2010 through the Incident-Based Distribution program. This program sends important preparedness literature to residents and businesses where significant emergencies have happened in their community. Along with providing good information, this program acts as a follow-up to the initial notification that was sent out by the City's Notify NYC system to those who have subscribed.

Types of incidents include:

  • Fire
  • Water main breaks
  • Flooding
  • Power outage

Residents and businesses would receive this guide which contains a planning template and important tips that they can use to develop their own household disaster plan. It also suggests different ways that people can stay connected with the City and receive lifesaving alerts. All New Yorkers are safer when they have prior knowledge on what to do during and after an emergency.
