Permit Description

A permit is required to compress a flammable gas, including piped natural gas, to a pressure exceeding 6 psig (41.4 Kpa). 

Microturbine systems utilize natural gas at an inlet pressure to the system of not greater than 3 psig, and boost the gas pressure to an inlet pressure to the combustion device of greater than 15 psig within the unit or a room enclosure.

Permit Length

A FDNY inspector will visit the premise annually and perform an inspection prior to permit expiration

Application Requirements

  • NYC Department of Buildings approval of gas piping associated with the microturbine.
  • G-92 Certificate of Fitness for the Supervision of High-Pressure
    Natural Gas Fired Microturbine Systems
    (*For 24 hour operations, such as hotels, a minimum of three certificate of fitness holders are required)
