The FDNY Fire Zone is New York City's state-of-the-art fire safety learning center located in Midtown Manhattan in Rockefeller Center (51st Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues). At the Fire Zone, children can learn about the power of fire with presentations, hands-on exhibits and direct interaction with active and retired FDNY Firefighters. Visitors are taught that they can play a major role in preventing fires and making their homes safer.
At the heart of the Fire Zone experience is the innovative fire simulator that utilizes special effects and multimedia to help teach visitors about fire safety and what do to in case of a fire emergency. Visitors leave the Fire Zone with materials necessary to eliminate fire hazards in their own homes and to create escape plans for their families.
The Fire Zone is open to the public and offers a number of options for visitors, including school and youth ogranization trips. General admission to the Fire Zone is free; access to the Fire Simulator requires a ticket purchase. Group discounts are available.
