Here are some of the milestones New Yorkers have accomplished through supporting the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund:

  • 170,000 nutritious meals have been delivered to healthcare workers.
  • 20,000 immigrant NYC families have been provided direct, one-time emergency relief payments.
  • 3,000 New Yorkers were given rental assistance to help them stay in their homes.
  • 35,000 NYC youth were provided engagement and enrichment activities to keep active and productive throughout the 2020 summer.
  • 100 restaurants were provided short-term payroll support to pay workers full minimum wage plus tips.
  • 400,000 packages of shelf-stable food, fresh produce, and household cleaning and personal care products were provided for staff at hospitals across all five boroughs.

Even as vaccines are starting to become more and more available to every single New Yorker, the city is still enduring the seismic shift in daily life. New Yorkers are resilient, but many across the five boroughs and from all walks of life are still feeling the impacts of the novel coronavirus physically, emotionally, financially, and otherwise.

As we continue to be in the midst of difficult times New Yorkers have and are continuing to step up every day. Many are seeking to connect and lend support to their neighbors by asking, “How can I help?”

By supporting the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, the Mayor’s Fund will be able to continue providing resources and support to:

  • Health care workers and essential staff
  • Local small businesses
  • Displaced hourly workers, including immigrant workers
  • Families, youth, and vulnerable New Yorkers
