The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City was rated #1 in the Contribute 200 Guide's "Top-Ranked" categories of "Fundraising Efficiency;" "Program Focus;" and "Overall Nonprofit by Cause" in "Community Development & Civic."  The top rankings, published in the November/December 2007 issue of Contribute magazine, recognize the Mayor's Fund as allocating the highest percentage of funds to program services (99%) and having the highest return for every dollar spent on fundraising.

"We are honored to be recognized in the Contribute 200 Guide and appreciate this great resource that the magazine provides to donors," said Mayor's Fund President Megan Sheekey. "Innovative public-private partnerships can make an enormous difference in programs and services that benefit New Yorkers, as well as visitors to our City. We are so pleased that the Mayor's Fund is able to help fulfill important needs citywide."

Contribute magazine is dedicated to the people and ideas of giving and philanthropy. The Contribute 200 Guide provides a list of nonprofit organizations in New York/New Jersey/Connecticut area that are reviewed for best practices. The guide gives information on program focus, sustainability, fundraising efficiency and financial stability of each charity in an effort to determine which are investor-worthy charities for individuals. Each of the charities reviewed by Contribute, in addition to having 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, has represented that a minimum of 70 percent of its budget goes to program services.

The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City serves as the umbrella non-profit organization for the City of New York, and is reliant on contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Current public projects supported by the Mayor's Fund include Opportunity NYC, the nation's first conditional cash transfer program to combat poverty in New York City and MillionTreesNYC, the City's initiative to plant one million trees throughout the five boroughs over the next decade.
