Mayor’s Fund Collects Donations on Behalf of Relief Efforts

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today expressed our deepest condolences to the people of the Philippines and Vietnam, and to the many New Yorkers who have relatives and loved ones who may have been affected by the recent typhoon and floods there. The combined death toll in these two countries now stands at more than 300, and many on the scene believe this number may well rise.

“These are terrible tragedies, and our hearts go out to all those who have suffered as a result,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “After disasters such as this, people naturally want to help.  The best way to do that is with cash donations that relief workers on the scene can use.”

New Yorkers can make donations to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, which will be directed to the international relief efforts. For more information call 311 or visit www.nyc.gov/fund.
