In July 2018, the Sexual Health Education Task Force released its final findings report about the state of sexual health education in New York City schools. The report outlines 11 recommendations under the following categories:
This report is a culmination of work done by 28 members of the task force, appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio in September 2017. The task force was chaired by Jacqueline Ebanks, Executive Director of the Commission on Gender Equity. Task force members included students, educators, sexual health education experts and experts in the field of LGBTQ and gender non-conforming health education, among others.
