Karim Hutson ('15) is the Founder and Managing Member of Genesis Companies. Under Karim's stewardship, the firm has grown rapidly and developed a reputation for building high quality projects that enhance urban centers while remaining accessible to the residents of these communities. This commitment to responsible and environmentally-conscious development earned Karim the Top Young Developer Award from the industry publication, Real Estate New Jersey.
Karim's dedication to community development extends to his personal life as well. He is a Member of the Board of the New Jersey School Development Authority and a Member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing. Karim also serves as Treasurer of the Trustee Board of First Corinthian Baptist Church in New York City.
Prior to founding Genesis, Karim was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs in New York City and a Private Equity Investor with General Atlantic, a global private equity firm that manages $17 billion in capital. Karim earned a B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He also holds a Master's in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School. Karim is married to LuzElenia and has two daughters.
