Thorobird was founded in August 2009 by founding partners Thomas Campbell ('15), Mark Reed, and John Bonhomme, Directors of Business Management, Corporate Strategy, and Investor Relations, respectively. Firm principals also include Deborah Widerkehr, Director of Development, and James Valouch, Director of Construction Management. To date, firm principals have accomplished the development of over 1,400 affordable housing units with a total value of approximately 500 million dollars. Currently, the principals have over 650 units under development or under contract throughout New York City with a value in excess of 280 million dollars. The broad portfolio of affordable and mixed-income developments demonstrates the firm's continuing ability to create affordable housing opportunities in a diversity of neighborhoods and communities.
A certified Minority-Owned Business Enterprise by the New York State Department of Economic Development (DMWBD), Thorobird has the skills, experience, and capacity to source, structure, and execute projects with New York City and New York State housing finance agencies including HPD, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), and New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA).
