Payment and Disbursement Update: The technical issue with the Child Support payment system has been resolved and the program has resumed normal operations. Payment processing began on Monday, April 5, and should be completed Wednesday, April 7. Parents can check the status of their payments at: https://www.childsupport.ny.gov/DCSE/secure/Login.

ALERT: CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FOR CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES

UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, because of the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the New York City Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) Borough Offices and Customer Service Walk-In Center will be closed. The New York City Family Courts are also closed for child support matters.

FOR CHILD SUPPORT ASSISTANCE, YOU CAN:

  • EMAIL dcse.cseweb@dfa.state.ny.us. Please include your Child Support case number in your email inquiry. 
  • SCHEDULE a phone appointment with a Customer Service caseworker by emailing dcse.cseweb@dfa.state.ny.us. Please provide your name, Child Support case number, a description of your concern(s), phone number, and the best time to reach you. Enter “Requesting a Customer Service Appointment” in the subject line of your email.
  • CALL 888-208-4485, the New York State Child Support Helpline.
  • MAIL us at OCSS, PO Box 830, Canal Street Station, New York, NY 10013.

OCSS remains committed to replying to your inquiry as soon as possible.

CHILD SUPPORT APPOINTMENTS FOR CASH ASSISTANCE APPLICANTS AND RECERTIFICATIONS

Not responding to a child support notice or missing a child support appointment scheduled for April 1 or later may result in your Cash Assistance benefit being reduced by 25%, loss of Medicaid coverage for yourself, and loss of eligibility for some rental assistance programs. Clients who want to apply for child support services can do so by mailing in an application (see below).

FAMILY COURT INQUIRIES

The court is accepting support modification requests through EDDS (the court’s electronic document delivery system on its website at www.nycourts.gov), or by U.S. mail addressed to the appropriate county Family Court, or by calling 212-343-1122 (LIFT), or 646-877-6050 or 332-215-5389 (OCSS), or 646-386-5299 (Family Court) for assistance. The date of contact with the court and postmark will be recorded. No conferences or hearings will be scheduled for these cases at this time.

The court is not accepting filings to establish new child support orders at this time.

APPLYING FOR CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES

If you would like to apply for child support services, you can get an application by:

  • DOWNLOADING an application at childsupport.ny.gov OR
  • CALLING the helpline at 888-208-4485 to have an application mailed to you or to request assistance with completing an application.

To pay child support with a credit or debit card by phone, available Fridays from 9am to 5pm, call 929-252-5201.

TO HAVE YOUR CHILD SUPPORT DOCUMENT NOTARIZED

OCSS is offering free remote notary service for child support documents. You will need a smartphone or a computer with Internet and scanning or faxing capability, as well as a valid photo I.D. To request this service, email dcse.cseweb@dfa.state.ny.us, with REMOTE NOTARY entered as the subject line of your email. Please include your name, child support account number, and phone number where you can be reached. You will be contacted to schedule an appointment during these hours: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, 10am to noon, or Wednesday, Thursday, 2pm to 4pm.
