What are Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) benefits?
D-SNAP benefits are special, one-time food assistance benefits for people impacted by disasters like Super Storm Sandy.  New York City offered D-SNAP benefits to residents of certain zip codes after the storm in 2012.

What are D-SNAP Benefits for Persons With Disabilities?
D-SNAP for Persons With Disabilities (D-SNAP PD) is a re-run of the D-SNAP program for people who would have qualified, but, because of a disability, did not apply.

How do I know if I am eligible to apply?
You are eligible to apply for D-SNAP PD if:

  • You lived in one of the following areas on October 27, 2012:
    • Coney Island, Brooklyn: Zip Codes 11224 and 11235
    • Red Hook, Brooklyn: Zip Code 11231
    • Gerritsen Beach South of Allen Avenue, Brooklyn: Partial area of Zip Code 11229 (View Map)
    • Lower East Side, Manhattan: Zip Code 10002
    • Southeast Shore, Staten Island: Zip Code 10306
    • North Midland Beach South of Seaview Avenue, Staten Island: Partial area of Zip Code 10305 (View Map)
    • The Rockaways, Queens: Zip Codes 11691, 11692, 11693, 11694, and 11697
  • AND you sustained damage to a home or self-employment business, or had storm-related loss of income or paid for other disaster related expenses, from October 27, 2012 to November 25, 2012
  • AND you did not apply for D-SNAP in 2012 due to a disability

Note: you are not eligible for D-SNAP PD if you received SNAP in October, 2012 or applied for D-SNAP in December, 2012.

Where and when can I apply?
D-SNAP PD applications will be accepted at the locations listed below from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on October 3-4, 10-11, 17-18, and 24-25, 2015

  • Coney Island Job Center, 3050 West 21st Street, Brooklyn, NY  11224
  • Richmond Job Center, 201 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY  10301
  • Rockaway Job Center, 219 Beach 59th Street, Far Rockaway, NY  11692
  • Union Square Job Center, 109 East 16th Street, New York, NY  10003
  • Clinton Hill Job Center, 495 Clermont Avenue, Brooklyn,  NY  11238

Are there other ways to apply?
Yes, if you or your authorized representative cannot come to the above HRA locations to apply for D-SNAP PD, please call Infoline at 929-221-0047 to schedule a home visit.

Note: There is no online application for D-SNAP PD. You can print the application before applying, but the only way to apply is at a center or through a home visit.
