Your IDNYC card is a broadly accepted, official form of identification. IDNYC is accepted:

  • By City agencies to access many services and programs;
  • By NYPD for the purposes of issuing summons or desk appearance tickets instead of arrest;
  • For entry into public buildings, like schools;
  • For taking the high school equivalency exam in New York City;
  • By employers, when submitted with proof of work authorization.

Your IDNYC card also offers a wide variety of exciting benefits that make it more than just an ID card. Your card can help you experience everything New York has to offer.

Costco

With the IDNYC card you will have access to exclusive discounts, including at Costco. IDNYC members who sign up as new* Costco members through this offer will receive a $30 Costco Shop Card. To get these great discounts, simply visit our Costco Benefit page, use the unique ID number on the front of your card, and enter your first and last name. Your information will be verified and you will be sent to the Costco website to complete your registration.

*This only applies to new and lapsed memberships.

  • Membership Activation Certificates are not redeemable or refundable for cash or Merchandise nor is it a debit or credit card. Membership Activation Certificates must be redeemed at a Costco warehouse membership desk in the United States or Puerto Rico; they are not redeemable at costco.com or outside of the United States.

  • Membership Activation Certificates will not be replaced if lost, misplaced, destroyed or stolen. Membership Activation Certificates do not expire and there are no dormancy fees. Membership Activation Certificates cannot be used to purchase additional Membership Activation Certificates or Costco Cash Cards.

  • Costco reserves the right to refuse to honor the Membership Activation Card if Costco believes a Membership Activation Certificate has been obtained by fraud or theft.

  • These terms and conditions will govern the use of the Membership Activation Certificate by the purchaser/recipient and all subsequent known or unknown recipients or holders of the Membership Activation Certificate. The IDNYC U.S. Veteran Designation

If you are a U.S. Veteran you can have "Veteran" printed on the front of your IDNYC card. Visit the IDNYC U.S. Veteran Designation page to learn more about the organizations below that accept the designation as proof of veteran status.

Animal Care Centers of New York

IDNYC cardholders will receive $25 off adoption fees for cats, dogs and rabbits at the Animal Care Centers of New York. These fees normally range from $50-$100. ACC adoptions include vaccinations, a microchip, spay/neuter, a free office visit at a participating veterinarian and a free identification tag. Animals available for adoption can be viewed on their website, or on ACC's free mobile app (available on Google Play and iTunes).

Costco

With the IDNYC card you will have access to exclusive discounts, including at Costco. IDNYC members who sign up as new* Costco members through this offer will receive coupons valued at over $60, including free items. To get these great discounts, simply visit our Costco Benefit page, use the unique ID number on the front of your card, and enter your first and last name. FOOD BAZAAR

You will receive a 5% discount off all purchases at Food Bazaar supermarkets in New York City on weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Some exclusions apply. To get the discount, simply show your IDNYC card at checkout.

Funky Hippy Chic Boutique

The Funky Hippy Chic Boutique, located in Monticello, offers IDNYC cardholders a 10% discount on purchases made at the Boutique. To take advantage of the discount, IDNYC cardholders must present their card at time of purchase.

15% discount off the merchandise value of products sold by 1-800 Flowers and all of 1-800 Flowers's affiliated companies and on their websites

In accordance with the Mayor’s Executive Order 98 issued on March 12, 2020 to slow the spread of COVID-19, IDNYC Enrollment Centers remain closed until further notice.

Acceptance of Expired Cards

To minimize consequences for people who are unable to renew their cards during the pandemic and to ensure that New Yorkers continue to enjoy the peace of mind of having a government-issued ID, until further notice the NYPD will consider cards that expired on or after March 12, 2020, as a valid form of identification.

Many IDNYC benefit partners will also honor cards that expired after March 12, 2020. Cardholders are encouraged to contact individual benefit partners as hours of operation and acceptance of IDNYC to access benefits may have temporarily changed.

However, the following benefit partners have told IDNYC that, until further notice, they will continue to accept cards that expired on or after March 12, 2020, on the same terms as unexpired cards:
