“As we continue our national vaccination and recovery effort, we must ensure that the first of us to make sacrifices on the frontlines are not the last to receive relief. We welcome the introduction of the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act, which will create a long overdue pathway to stability and citizenship for over 5 million people, and urge Congress to provide permanent protections for all essential workers. This critical first step will ensure equitable recovery as we pursue and fights for a more humane and welcoming immigration system that provides a permanent place in our communities for all immigrants.”
