NYC COVID-19 Immigrant Burial Assistance Program

NYC’s COVID-19 Immigrant Burial Assistance Program helps family members or other individuals responsible for burial costs of their loved ones who passed away from COVID-19. The program was created by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC in partnership with the NYC Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs and is available to any eligible individual regardless of their immigration status.

The Program will cover burial or funeral costs up to $9,000. A trusted community-based organization can walk you through the application process and directly disburse the payment to you.

To qualify, you need to attest that:

  • You have a financial hardship due to COVID-19.
  • The death is due to COVID-19 or related complications.
  • You are not eligible for state/federal programs.

To apply, you need:

  • Proof of identity, such as IDNYC
  • Death certificate
  • Receipt or invoice from the funeral home
