Commissioner Kim Vauss

Kim Vauss

Ms. Vauss is a New York State Registered Architect and a graduate of the City College School of Architecture. Ms. Vauss obtained her early experience at the Town of Islip on Long island before launching her ten year career with the City of New York in the Office of the Mayor’s New York City Loft Board and later at the Department of Buildings.

While at the Department of Buildings Ms. Vauss was a plan examiner specializing in large residential conversions, new buildings, and enlargements. In addition to her other duties, Ms. Vauss served as a Board Member for the City of New York Loft Board representing the Department of Buildings. After having gained invaluable experience at the Department of Buildings, Ms. Vauss retired from public service to join Arc Consultants as a Senior Associate and later as Vice President. During these years she worked on many residential new buildings, commercial hotels, commercial build—outs, executive office space, and several other major projects.

Ms. Vauss’ wealth of experience led the New York AlA Building Code Committee to request her presence as a guest lecturer on zoning and code issues at several symposia. Ms. Vauss has also made appearances on CBS evening news to offer expert opinions on building collapses.

Aside from her current position as Managing Director of Technical Affairs at Outsource, she is a member of the following organizations and groups:
