Notices of Compliance

All LPC permit applications, including post-approval actions such as Notices of Compliance, are now filed and processed through Portico, the agency’s new web-based permit application portal. If you need a Notice of Compliance (NOC) on an application submitted prior to the launch of Portico, you will need to apply for that Notice of Compliance through Portico.

A Notice of Compliance (NOC) or sign-off can be issued upon request for approved projects, but LPC does not require an NOC except when addressing open violations and for permits issued in connection with related approvals from the Department of City Planning (DCP). However, the Department of Buildings (DOB) often requires an NOC prior to final closeout of the DOB process.

To obtain a Notice of Compliance, please submit an application through Portico by selecting the Post-Approval Action filing category from the menu on the upper left-hand side of the Portico dashboard. Portico will prompt you to upload the supporting materials required, including:

  • Color photos of all approved exterior work, including work not visible from a public thoroughfare
  • A list of any "as-built" conditions that differ from the original LPC approval

You can view the status of your application at every stage of the process by logging into your Portico dashboard. Once issued, all permits will be available for download through Portico.
