Permit Application Guide

LPC’s Permit Application Guide is designed to help owners file complete applications that include the correct materials so our staff can review proposed projects and issue permits more quickly. This guide lists the materials that must be submitted, describes the criteria a project must meet to qualify for a permit, and explains the preservation principles for those criteria.

The guide includes application filing instructions, sample applications, and checklists for nine of the most common categories of work that require an LPC permit. More work types will be added over time. If your project or work type is not included in this manual, please contact us for assistance on how to complete a permit application.

Please note the guide is meant to be used in conjunction with LPC Rules, and is not a substitute for filing an application for a permit. The Rules are available through an online portal that contain all of the city rules. You can also find a PDF version of the LPC Rules here.
